Meroddi Pera Hotel
Meroddi Pera Hotel has served as a boutique hotel since 2013, with 44 rooms in 7 historic buildings dating from the 19th century, adjacent to each other in Galata’s wardrobe. The main building of Şahkulu Sokak No.24 of our hotel was built between 1881-1883. The first owner of the building is an Ottoman merchant named Moise Matalon.
In the year 1891 the building is referred to as the “Madeleny House”. The owner of this building, Grande Rue de Pera, no. 582 is believed to be Andre Madeleny who sells pharmaceuticals and orthopedic supplies. The next owner after 1895 was the Greek Cypriot shoemaker Theodore Yannissopoulos, who resides next to Otču Street.
